Weekly food waste collections are to begin in Eaton Bray this month (November 2020).
Following Central Bedfordshire Council’s 2018 waste consultation it revealed that residents were overwhelmingly supportive of recycling and wanted the option to recycle more of their waste, CBC are introducing weekly food waste recycling collections in the south of Central Bedfordshire.
From Monday16 November, a small 23-litre outdoor food waste bin will be delivered as well as a smaller indoor kitchen caddy and a roll of food waste caddy liners to all houses (not flats) in participating areas (Eaton Bray).
Leaflets will also be delivered to these houses explaining how to use the bins and which food items can and can not be included in the collection.
Bin deliveries are anticipated to take four weeks to deliver to participating areas. As soon as residents receive their bin, they can start using it, with collections starting on their next normal waste/recycling collection day.
Once collected the food waste will be recycled using a composting process called anaerobic digestion (AD).
Further information will soon be able to be viewed on the council website.
